I have created various illustrations for the United Federation of Teachers' newspaper, the NY Teacher. Some have won awards at the Metro NY Labor Communications Awards.
2022 Budget Cartoons
In 2022, NYC public schools faced drastic budget cuts. In response, the UFT set out to show that there was plenty of money in the city's budget for public schools. I created two political cartoons in response to Mayor Eric Adams. The first cartoon shows that there were billions of dollars in federal and state, but Adams is focused on breaking the schools' bank. The second cartoon was in response to Adams calling budget cut protestors "clowns." These cartoons were posted on social media and the first cartoon was also printed on posters for a rally.
2023 Women's History Month
March is Women's History Month, and the UFT wanted to do something on social media. I pitched the idea of highlighting important women throughout the union's history by creating illustrations of them and stating some reasons why they were important. After collaborating with the rest of the Social Media Team, we set up a schedule. Each week during the month of March we posted two illustrations of union women, one from the past and one from today.
